The Jerramungup Future Fund has undertaken the following fundraising projects:
2018
300ha community cropping at Nathan & Wendy Brown’s property, Needilup.
Nathan & Wendy provided the community with the opportunity to take on 300ha for one year - this was the initiation of the Jerramungup Future Fund. Local farmers, community members, and businesses came together to plant and harvest this crop.
2019
Community Auction
The JFF coordinated the first ever community auction. Based on a clearing sale format, many people from the district took the opportunity to try and sell unwanted farm machinery, household items, vehicles, chemicals, firewood and much more. Catered for by the Jerramungup District Highschool P&C and a bar opened by the Jerramungup Football Club, it was not only a great fundraiser but a great community event as well.
2021
Community Contract Harvest - Lawson Grains ‘Jerry South’
Lawson Grains provided the JFF with the opportunity to contract harvest 1300ha at their Jerry South property in Gairdner. A total of 9 harvesters, 5 road trains and 7 chaserbins were provided by the community to take the crop off over 2 days. The Jerramungup District Highschool provided lunches and dinners for over 30 people over the 2 days and a great gathering was had by all once the work was done.
2022
Community Crop - K & C Parsons, Jerramungup
The JFF secured 280ha of land to lease from K & C Parsons for the 2022 season. This crop was planted to canola and with help from the community, we were really pleased with the end result.
2023
Community Crop - ‘Grovers’ Jacup
The JFF secured 280ha of land to lease from M & M Smith for the 2023 season. This crop was planted to Wheat, and despite the dry seasonal conditions it still produced a decent crop and the final result was a very successful.
2024
Community Crop - ‘Grovers’ Jacup
We would like to secure Grovers once again for the 2024 season, however, as at the 15th May 2024, the dry seasonal conditions do make this quite a risk. We will keep the community updated as to the progress of the community crop for 2024 via social media and at our next general meeting.
